Huntington’s Chorea is a type of health concern where the person doesn’t have control over various parts of their body. Those areas that are mainly affected are the arms, legs, and the face. There can be movements that are involuntary and that drastic in nature. They will affect the normal overall functions of the individual.
Huntington’s Chorea was first identified in 1872 by George Huntington who it is now named after. It is believed that it occurs in about 10 per 100,000 births. Due to the way in which the body is affected many people are interested in finding a way to control it. No cure for it has been found. However, there are forms of therapy and medications that can help to reduce the effects from it.
Counseling is often suggested too because of the low self-esteem that may people with Huntington’s Chorea suffer from. Many of them stay indoors and don’t have an active social life due to the fear of what may occur with it. Suicide is very high for those that have Huntington’s Chorea.
