Is Elavil Right For You?
Elavil (also known as Tryptizol, Laroxyl, Sarotex or Lentizol) is a type of antidepressant medication that is commonly prescribed for the treatment of depression symptoms. The company behind this product is AstraZeneca. However, based on our research, this company is no longer producing the formula. The product, however, may be still available for purchase from several online retailers (within the United States only).
This formula contains amitriptyline hydrochloride. It is the most widely used TCA and has at least equal efficacy against depression as the newer class of SSRIs. Besides reducing the depression symptoms, these types of tricyclics has also proven to be effective in easing migraines, anxiety attacks, tension headaches, and even some schizophrenic symptoms.
Please keep in mind that this type of medication is available by prescription only and it is never recommended to use Elavil if it was prescribed for someone else. Many doctors will offer free samples to see how a patient will react to the medication.
