Is Carlson Cod Liver Oil Right For You?

Carlson Cod Liver Oil is advertised as a potent source Omega-3 essential fatty acids EPA and DHA, Vitamin D and Vitamin A designed to support the cardiovascular system, the health of the brain and nervous system, vision and the immune system health. The formula is manufactured by Carlson Laboratories from cod fished in the unpolluted waters of Norway.

The company has more than 40 years of market experience and is a reputable manufacturer of dietary supplements. The company’s product portfolio includes numerous condition specific products (brain and mood, bone health, immune support, women, men and children products, etc.), as well as a range of vitamins, minerals, amino-acids, and unique formulations.

The manufacturer claims an FDA-registered independent laboratory regularly tests the formula and has determined it to be fresh, fully-potent and free of detrimental levels of mercury, cadmium, lead, PCB’s and 28 other contaminants. The benefits of cod liver oil have been extensively researched, although for some applications evidence is still inconclusive.

The manufacturer makes no explicit ailment claims for Carlson Cod Liver Oil. However, it clearly differentiates the product from similar products. First, it claims the fish is caught during the winter and early spring when the liver code oil content is the highest and second, the product freshness is preserved by replacing the air in the glass bottle with nitrogen.
